SEQUOIA
In Sequoia National Park we were blown away by the sheer size and concentration of giant sequoia trees. While we experienced our fair share while exploring the Grants Grove area of Kings Canyon National Park, nothing could prepare us for what we saw in Sequoia. Starting off bright and early at the General Sherman (the worlds largest tree by volume), we meandered our way down the Congress Trail, which took us past several named trees including the House Group, Senate Group, Booker T. Washington, and Abraham Lincoln Trees. After a deceivingly steep upward hike, we headed off to the Giant Forest Museum to learn a little bit more about the park and the life cycle of a sequoia tree.
From here we took a peaceful stroll through Round Meadow to Beetle Rock before one of our scariest adventures, a hike up to the summit of Moro Rock, a granite dome which hangs above the forest floor of Sequoia. Nothing could prepare us for all the feelings we felt in the build up to and eventual hike of this incredible natural landmark. After another trail or two to get us back to the Giant Forest Museum, we headed off into the sunset, not soon to forget all the splendor of this park.
Sequoia National Park is on the traditional and stolen land of the Western Mono people.
